Keep your pet out of hospital this Christmas! Please take care to ensure your pets do not consume:
- Macadamia and other nuts
- Avocado (this is important for birds too!)
- Chocolate
- Alcohol
- Grapes and raisins
- Onion, garlic, and chives
- Any fatty and salty foods (even ham off-cuts can be too fatty)
- Presents under the tree (chocolates can be sniffed out a mile away)!
If anyone gifts you lillies, please keep your feline friends away from them! Ingesting even the smallest amounts can result in severe, acute kidney failure.
Keep an eye on your decorations! These can be easily chewed and swallowed, and cause catastrophic issues internally.
If you suspect that one of your pets has ingested anything dangerous, or if you notice any concerning symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea or odd behaviour, call us immediately on 3288 1574.
We are open from 7am – 10pm (with the exception of Christmas day) during the festive season (at our Augustine Heights Hospital).
