Paralysis Ticks – Save Your Pet with Prevention!

Paralysis tick cases are very serious, and if left untreated, their toxins can kill. Already this season, we’ve had dozens of dogs and cats present to our hospitals for treatment.

Check your pet regularly (don’t forget all the nooks and cranny’s!) and be aware of the signs of tick paralysis.

Symptoms in pets include:

  • Wobbliness, weakness, or generally unsteady on their feet.
  • Change in tone of your dog’s bark or cat’s meow.
  • Loss of appetite.
  • Vomiting or dry retching.
  • Excessive salivation.
  • Difficulty swallowing.
  • Coughing.
  • Noisy panting or breathing.

Call us immediately on 3288 1574 if you find a tick on your pet or if you notice any of these symptoms.

To protect your pets, we recommend using preventative products such as Bravecto or Nexgard for dogs and the new Bravecto spot-on for cats.
